Brenda MacDonald

Brenda was born July 14th 1960 in New Waterford N.S. She was raised by her great aunt because her mother died at a young age due to complications in birth. Brenda attended high school at Breton Education Centre. From there she went on to get her BBA at UCCB. Growing up she had many jobs such as waitressing at the Keltic Lodge, working at the Holiday Inn in Halifax and in Sydney, she also worked at Cape Breton Cable and is currently employed at UCCB in the finance office.

Brenda is very strong willed. Growing up Brenda was raised by her great aunt. She never knew her mom because she died when Brenda was only three months old. When Brenda was twenty her boyfriend of four years died in a car accident. At the age of thirty-eight she went back to college to get her BBA. Through all of this she showed alot of strong will. She went on to get a good job and raise a good family even with all she's been through.

Brenda is also very loving. She has raised me for the fourteen years of my life and would do anything for me. When her great aunt became ill, she went out to New Waterford every week to make her meals and give her baths. Also when her great aunt went into a nursing home she went out every week to sit and spend time with her. She never went a week without spending time with her great aunt because she loved her and appreciated every thing she did for her as a child.

Brenda is an unsung hero. She isn't famous or well known but she is a hero to me. It really is the little things that count like taking me to my soccer games or practices even if she has to go out of her way and cancel things to do so. She takes care of me when I'm sick even if it means that she will get sick too.She also pays the bills and cooks our meals. These may not be big things but to me, they matter alot.

My mom may not be famous or well known and most may not see her as a hero but she is a big hero to me. Through all of her love and strong will she raised me to be the person I am today and for that she will always be my hero.
