My hero is Magic Johnson. Magic is my hero because he has all the qualities of a hero. He is smart, strong, likable, determined, and courageous. He is also one of the best NBA basketball players of all time. That’s got to feel great. Magic Johnson is also my hero because he has been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. When all the players in the NBA were afraid to get AIDS they wanted Magic to retire but he didn’t want to because he loved the game of basketball. Magic stood up for himself and stayed in the NBA for two more years before he finally had to retire because he was getting old.

Magic Johnson is a former basketball player who used to play back in the day with Kareem Abdul-Jabarr. He was born in Lansing Michigan and he attended Michigan State University for two years before turning pro. Magic was born on August 14th, 1959. Magic has won 5 NBA titles all with the Los Angeles Lakers. He has also won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award once and he also won the NBA finals MVP. Magic has also won an NCAA national championship with the Michigan State Spartans. He was also the NBA All Star MVP. Magic has also had his number, 32, retired by the LA Lakers Franchise.

I think Magic made a difference because he showed everyone that he can play with AIDS. He proved every single doctor he ever went to wrong. They all said that playing basketball would kill him. But Magic said that NOT playing basketball was killing him. Magic was right because when he came back he was just as good as when he left. I also think that Magic is a hero because he is a remarkable person. He has a charity called the Magic Johnson Foundation and he works with kids and is just a great person. His charity was started in 1991 and is a non profit organization and a great charity to donate to.

I think that Magic Johnson is a survivor hero because he is currently battling HIV/AIDS. His doctors have come up with a medication that will prevent HIV from becoming AIDS. Magic is also a survivor hero because when he first got sick the doctors said that he couldn’t play basketball but he didn’t care he came back anyway to complete 2 full seasons in the NBA before retiring. I also think that Magic Johnson is a hero to others near and far because he has his own charity. His charity helps communities near and far and works to develop programs and support community-based organizations that address the educational, health and social needs of ethnically diverse, urban communities. The Magic Johnson Foundation is very helpful to people all around. Magic is also a hero near and far because when he was in the NBA he was a great player and fun to watch. He won 5 titles with the Lakers and had his number retired.

Well that’s my story of Magic Johnson; I hope you all liked it. Like I said in the beginning, Magic is one of the greatest players of all time and he is also a great man. His charity is a great charity to donate to and he is battling HIV. Hopefully Magic can live a long healthy life thanks to his doctors.
