What is a hero? A hero is someone who is brave, trustworthy, and respectful. My hero is Robert M. Marinaro. He was born in 1951, in Paterson, N.J. When he was a child, he had an interest in airplanes. So when he grew up, he practiced and studied and became a pilot. Robert then moved to Trenton and lived right across from an airport where he was a flight instructor. Today he lives in Cedar Grove New Jersey, and is a Captain for American Airlines.
Robert Marinaro served in the Marines from 1970 to1973. Then in 1991, he had to fly troops to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. He was providing backup for the troops who were fighting on land. He was selected from the Marines, and he then volunteered to fly the planes. In the War he flew jets, carriers, and destroyers.
During his life, he was also a flight instructor. He wanted to teach other people what he knew and loved. He also got extra practice in flying. By teaching others, he had the qualities of patience and hard work. He also teaches me to fly airplanes.
Today, he is a Captain for American Airlines. When he is flying he sits in the cockpit. While he’s at home, he studies the airplane and gets lots of sleep.
In conclusion, my dad has made a difference in my life. My dad has served in the war, and taught people how to fly. I think that is amazing. My dad is brave, respectful, and everything a hero should be. The most important thing is that he loves me.
