My mother Marlene

My mom, Marlene is my role model. She is the most amazing person I have ever met. She is married to Brian, my dad, and we live in Cote-St. Luc, Montreal. I have a brother named Dustin. He is cute but devilish which makes him quite a handful for my mom. No matter what the situation, my mom is always organized. My mom likes to cook, exercise and eat healthy, always reminding my brother and me to do the same. Lastly, she has great fashion sense. She knows exactly what I like and we have a great time shopping together. She is such a beautiful person and I hope she never changes.

My mom is always helping me or anyone else out. She is a physiotherapist at Centre Hospitalier de LaSalle where she works three to four times a week treating and rehabilitating the disabled or sick. Her schooling was in English but she was daring enough to take a job in French. As a result, she speaks French very well and always teaches me what she has learnt. When my brother and I have difficulties in school or homework, she is there to help. She always gives us great advice and teaches us right from wrong. This hardworking woman does most of the family errands and runs the house too. This shows you how consistent she is. She never misses anything and does everything she has to do. As you can see, Marlene is always taking great care of others.

Marlene was born here in Montreal. Her mother (my grandma) was also born here and her dad (my grandpa) was born in Poland and moved here at a young age. My mom has one brother and one sister. She is the youngest one of the three. She grew up in Hampstead, Montreal. My grandparents still live there and I visit them frequently. Sometimes I stay overnight and I sleep in my mom’s bed. My mother is a mix of everything great in the world, from an outstanding cook to a smart and loving mother. She is so important to me in every way.

My mom and I spend a lot of time together, from vacations to shopping, or to simply sitting at the dinner table. I love her so much and she loves me in return. She sends me to amazing schools, camps and fun activities. Both my appearance and personality resemble my mother’s. Some people say I’m a “mini-Marlene”! This is only because she is a big influence and role model in my life. Although I am very dependent upon my mother today, I would like to be able to give back to her when I grow older. I look forward to spending many more happy years together. Without my mom I wouldn’t be who I am today and I don’t know how I would survive without her. You must be thinking that Marlene can’t possibly be a ‘real hero’ because she didn’t do a ‘real heroic deed’, but you’re wrong. It’s true that she didn’t change the world but she changed me. Her capacity to help others whether at work, with her friends, or with her family, is extensive. It’s all the little things she’s done that count and I am grateful. That is why my hero is my mom.
