Marlin

There are many characteristics that can make someone a hero. It doesn't matter who or what you are, or where you're from. There are many heroes who go unrecognized everyday. Some people don't realize that being a hero doesn't mean that you even have to be real. One of these heroes is Marlin from the animated movie Finding Nemo. Marlin is a hero because he is selfless, courageous, and determined.

Being selfless is a great quality, and it is definitely a one of a hero. Marlin is selfless because he faces many dangers, but he doesn't care if he gets hurt, he just wants to find his son. If Marlin was a selfish person, he would have just stayed in his anemone and mourned for the loss of his son. But that's not what a hero does. A hero is selfless and wants to help others.

Marlin is also very courageous. Ever since his wife Coral died, Marlin has been very afraid of the ocean. Most of the time he won't even leave his anemone. When Nemo got taken away though, Marlin faced and overcame some of his biggest fears to find him. He had to fight off sharks and other dangerous fish. He also had to overcome maybe one of his biggest fears, he had to learn to trust other fish. If you make yourself go against what you are most afraid of to help someone else, you are definitely a hero.

If you don't have determination, it takes away from your other good qualities. If Marlin wasn't determined to find Nemo, he might have given up after a few rough patches along the way, or he may not have even tried to find him. Marlin had to involve himself in many dangerous things to find Nemo, but it was his determination that got him through. Determination can make any other quality stronger, to help you accomplish more things.

It isn't what or who you are that makes you a hero, or even the qualities that you have. It's how you use what you have to make yourself a better person, and to help others. Marlin did this and it made him a hero. Marlin is a hero because he is selfless, courageous, and determined.
