Laguna Beach
January 28, 2014
The Massen Greene Foundation and The Laguna Beach Community Foundation have presented The MY HERO Project with $30,000 of funding to support their ongoing Environmental Programs. The MY HERO Project uses digital media and Internet technology to highlight people who are working hard to make the world a better place. By focusing on heroes, people can be inspired to take action in their own lives.
Inspiring young people to be stewards of the environment is of upmost importance to MY HERO. Exposing youth to a variety of environmental activists through short films will encourage them to find issues they care about and take action in their communities. The MY HERO Project's environmental programs are implemented both locally and globally and are designed to foster earth stewardship in teachers, students and artists of all ages.
The grant funds will be used for the following:
1) Developing and implementing Educational programs to foster Earth-stewardship in youth, locally and globally.
2) Hosting ECO-HERO screenings of Environmental Films that celebrate local and global conservation heroes.
3) Compiling and distributing environmental content through DVD production, the
myhero.com website, and local cable television.
4) Purchasing equipment to support our programs.
Some of who will benefit:
Teachers and students around the world who use the
myhero.com website.
Students in the LBUSD and The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach.
