What is a real hero to you? To me, a hero is someone you can look up to, someone that you can depend on to set a good example. My hero is Megan Hilty. She applies to all the qualities that I think a real hero should have. I can look up to her; depend on her for a good example…and so much more. She knows to keep going when the going gets tough. She’s a hero. You’ll probably see why.

Megan Hilty is a famous actress. She is also a singer and dancer. She plays Glinda in the musical ‘Wicked’. She hasn’t been on Broadway yet, but she does perform on the ‘Wicked’ tour. She has also appeared on a Disney show as a featured role. But that’s what I mean by “She keeps going when the going gets tough.” She hasn’t exactly gotten the lead role in a television show, and she hasn’t gotten her big break on Broadway, but she has been in small roles and still taken the part. And she is an understudy for Wicked, which means she fills in for the real Glinda if she is sick or busy the night of the show. She also has to put up with the hassle of traveling and not being at home. It’s hard work doing what she does but she is hilarious at every role and amazing. I can’t wait to see her on Broadway.

Megan pretty much just does acting all the time. It’s her job, but to her it’s just fun. Megan Hilty is very good at what she does. I went to see Wicked a few weeks ago and Megan Hilty was performing in it, because the real Galina, Kristen Chenoweth, was sick. I was so excited because I thought that Kristen Chenoweth was going to be in it. I was expecting to see her in the play, but when I found out that Kristen cancelled at the last moment, and I saw that Megan was playing the role, I was bummed. But the moment Glinda floated out on stage in her ‘bubble’, I saw that she was amazing. Afterwards, I was glad that I saw Megan instead.

Megan Hilty thinks of life as a new adventure everyday. She is a performer like me, and us theatre kids always have a more creative view on life than most others do. Megan did not always want to be an actress…when she was little, she dreamed of being an Opera Singer. She can sing like one, but I am glad she decided to stick with theatre. She loves life and loves to live, and she tries something new all the time. Megan Hilty is so inspiring. I hope I can be like her when I grow up.

Megan is an important person to me because she is a true hero. As I said, she’s someone I can look up to and depend on for a good example. Everything about her is heroic. She is so hilarious, nice, and a great person. I hope that I can be just as great as her when I grow up. Especially since I have always dreamed of being on Broadway. It would be awesome to play the role that Megan did in ‘Wicked’. Even though I know I would never be half as amazing as she. Megan is a true hero to me. Who is your hero?
