Melissa

by Kimberly from New York

Heroes are people with powers that fly around in red capes who save people in danger and help cats down from trees, right? No, we need to start seeing the heroes in our everyday lives. Fire fighters are heroes, but they are not in our everyday lives. Let’s think of someone in our families that is a hero. I’m going to tell you about someone in my family that is my real hero. My mom, Melissa Davis.

My mom is fantastic! She almost knows everything! And my mom is really careful of what we waste. I can tell you one thing, my mom is a hero to things that my family almost wastes. And for that reason my mom “saves” things that are about to be wasted.

She is also almost “Super” fast because whenever I get a cut or break any of my bones she zips to me. So, she kind-of “Saves” people in danger. Even though my mom can’t fly, instead she kind-of can “Sense” when her family has gotten hurt and she is there in a flash.

My mom is funny, too. She makes jokes that I will never, ever forget. She also understands how I feel whenever I am sad, lonely, mad, or just happy. I don’t know how many words would be in one sentence if I told my mom how much I love her, and that I’m sorry for all of the mean things that I might have said in the past.

My mom’s eyes are like flowers just waiting to be seen. Her laughs are like love poems, and her beautiful blue eyes are like wonderful jewels waiting to be realized.

She is the love of my life and I don’t know what I would do without her. She thinks out of the box and I appreciate everything that she has done just for me.

I can’t tell you how much I’d miss her if she got a job and left for work every single day. My mom is my hero and for so long I haven’t even realized it until I finally opened my eyes to the world.

Again, my mom is the love of my life and I really don’t know what I’d do without her. I guess I was wrong about my mom and I really don’t know what a hero is. But I know only one person in my family that is my real “Super” hero to me, and she is my mom.

Thank you mom, you really are a “Super” hero to me and to our whole family.
