I consider my nanny Mercedes as my personal hero. She was an excellent person, as my nanny and as a normal person. She loved being with children. She was very perseverant and she had a lot of patience. She was very courageous and when there was a problem she always knew how to solve it without difficulties.
Really she was my nanny because when I was five years old she had to go to her house in Peru, where all her family was. She started to work in my house when I was two years old. She taught me how to eat well and have good manners. When she entered my house to work, she did not know a lot and then my mother taught her how to be a nanny. She wanted to learn more, she was very perseverant.
Mercedes was very courageous because she saved my life twice. Once I was falling off my baby chair and she stopped me, she took me away from the chair before it fell. The second time was when we were travelling by car with my grandfather, my grandmother and Mercedes. I was playing on the back seat, when suddenly Mercedes had a strange vision, and she grabbed me firmly with both arms. In the blink of an eye, we crashed with another car, miraculously I did not die. I was very scared that day!!
I could say that she was like Florence Nightingale because she was an excellent nurse and nanny. The difference is that I was not in the Second World War. I am a twenty first century person, with normal characteristics. Mercedes had an excellent sense of humour, she made a lot of jokes, she was really funny. She even knew how to cook (and very well!!!).
To sum up, she was the best nanny I have ever had. She is kind hearted, and she always helped people in need, both in good and bad times. I really admire her. Nowadays she is happily married, has two children and she often comes to visit me in Buenos Aires. All my family loves her very much, and she was, is, and forever will be an incredible person!
