Heather Mitts

A hero is someone that does something that amazes people in some way. Whether they react to something in a moment like the people on the 9-11 plane that risk there lives to save more people from getting killed or your Lance Armstrong and overcome cancer and win the Tour De France. There are many kinds of hero’s but the one I’m about to tell u is a hero within.

Heather Mitts is a soccer player from Cincinnati. She tried out for national team for the 2002 Fifa World Cup. She made the team but broke her leg during practice. Since she couldn’t play in any of the games she gave up her spot so someone that could play could be on the team.

Heather became a reporter for the world cup so that she could stay involved. Even after her misfortune she kept playing and tried out again for the Olympic team. This time she made the team and stayed healthy. She was part of the team that won gold at the 2004 Olympics.

In T.S. Barron’s “A Hero’s Trail” he mentioned a hero within. A hero within is a hero that overcomes something to accomplish something. Heather Mitts is a hero within because she overcame her broken leg by stayed involved in the world cup and practice soccer enough to make the Olympic team.

There are many kinds of hero’s in the world. Heather is just one hero of many in the world. Whether they are survivor hero’s, hero’s to others near and far. The only other question is what kind of hero will you be.
