Moses

by Rebekah from California

Moses was a humble and God fearing Prophet. He is my hero because he trusted God so much. He had a huge amount of faith to lead God's people away from slavery and Egypt. He was one of the very few people to actually see God face to face. Moses did have his weak moments when doubt and anger would overcome him, shrinking his confidence in God through hard trials. He persevered through those hard trials and led the Israelites to the Promised Land. In all, he was a very brave man.

Before Moses became a prophet, he caught an Egyptian beating an Israelite slave, he beat the Egyptian do death, and hid him in the sand. In fear, he fled from Egypt, only to find the presence of God in a burning bush, who told him to lead His people out of Egypt. In obedience, Moses confronted Pharaoh, who refused to let the Israelites go. Nine plagues later, Moses led God's people to the Red Sea to witness the great miracle of watching the great waters part. When they crossed the sea, God came to them in the presence of a cloud, leading them to the Promised Land. When they were close to the Promised Land, God called Moses up Mount Sinai to give him the Ten Commandments. When he came down from the mountain, Moses found the Israelites worshiping an idol. In anger, he threw the Ten Commandments on the ground, shattering them. God gave him another copy, and Moses told God's people the law.

Hebrews 11:27 says, "By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the King; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen." Numbers 12:3 states that he was the most humble man on earth. He did have his weaknesses, but also many great strengths. Few people today or back then, had such a humble, but strong faith. Leading so many people over so much territory, and confronting such powerful people, Moses was truly a great man used by God.
