Most people idolize their older siblings, parents, or their favorite actor, but my inspiration is music. Everything about it is just simply breath-taking. I don't know any one person that means as much to me as music does. People make mistakes, whereas music can only keep you from making mistakes. It's just perfect.

The first and main reason that I love music is that it is very inspirational. When I feel upset, I can just put on my headphones and put myself in my own world. The lyrics usually have a deeper meaning that you understand when you are in a similar situation as the artist, or as explained in the song. It usually inspires me to go a certain way about my problems. For example, when I was in a bad situation, I listened to songs related to my situation because it didn't make me feel so alone. It made me think that things would be best if I just kept my head held high and did what I thought was truly right, regardless what anyone else thought or said.

Not only is music good to listen to, but it's also good to make. Opinions, everyday and complicated situations, and anything else that would mean a lot to a person make the best songs. When I'm really upset, I feel so much better when I put it into a song and think that I could be the one reminding someone else to keep their head up one day. I want to be able to help others the way music helped me, and what better way to do that than through the one thing that I am so passionate about and helped me in the first place? It gives me a way to say what I need to say and actually feel heard.

Another good reason why music is my hero is because it is a universal language. You could tell a story just by a simple beat. Last year, when I resided in West Virginia, I lived near a school for the deaf and blind. Many of the kids came from places all around including Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. A lot of them became my close friends. It was hard to communicate with each other because I had little knowledge of sign language. Most of the time we texted each other, even if we were sitting right beside each other. One day my friends Kelsi and Tylar invited me to a basketball game. While we were sitting in their car, I noticed how nice their speakers were. I knew they couldn't possibly be the ones that came with the car. I wondered why a deaf person would need such nice speakers. He explained to me that he could still feel the bass drops and the beat. He placed his hands on the speakers then took them off and proceeded to play the beat back by tapping his hand on the steering wheel perfectly. He also said that the blind kids see through music. They love it and possibly enjoy it more than the deaf kids do!

Music is not only good for helping people through hard times, but it can also take your mind off of things. If you just need a place to escape, music is there. If you need advice, music is always there. If you need to get something off of your chest, music will always be there. It doesn't matter who you are, how much money you have, your social status, or your opinions, music won't judge you or tell you that your opinions are wrong. It's always going to be there to help and listen to you when you need it. Nobody is perfect, but music truly is. "Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul." -Unknown
