"Life without limbs? Or life without limits?" -Nick Vujicic

When you wake up in the morning, you push yourself out of bed, probably go to the bathroom and brush your teeth. You'll put on your clothes and head out the door. Imagine doing a daily task like that without either your arms or legs. On December 4th, 1982, Nick Vujicic was born with a condition called Tetra-Amelia which means he has no limbs. ("Nick Vujicic") As one may imagine, life was extremely hard and he dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts. At the age of thirteen, Nick Vujicic's mother showed him an article about a man who suffered from Lou Gehrig's Disease who started a website to inspire people to never give up. It was a big pivotal moment for Vujicic because that was when he decided to encourage others like the man in the newspaper. ("Nick Vujicic's Inspirational Splash") Nick Vujicic was then able to put his hardships aside and become a Christian motivational speaker. He developed organizations such as "Life without Limbs" and "Attitude is Altitude." Nick Vujicic is a man of determination, strength and selflessness because he is an inspiration to others due to his encouragement for people to see the world in a positive way.

Nick Vujicic was determined to preach to the world despite his limitations. In the Gale Database: "Vujicic stresses that attitude is an important tool when making choices, and he uses the example of his own life to bring his message home. Saying that some people are too eager to embrace failure, he seems to ask his audiences." He loves to change people's perspective of life and how they see the world. Vujicic's message builds assurance in his listeners all over the world. His message tells the audience that whatever struggles they may have are not as bad as they might seem. There are bigger worries in the world. Some may think that his lack of limbs holds him back from traveling as a speaker, however in the article, "Nick Vujicic's Inspirational Splash Go the Distance:" "through his ministry, Vujicic has traveled to 25 countries to speak -- sometimes to crowds of 100,000. He says that last year he flew 130 times and spoke at 350 schools. 'He fills stadiums in Colombia and India, all over the world,' said Dan'l Markham, a pastor on Life Without Limbs' board of directors." Vujicic's audience comes from all around the world and he will go wherever it takes to share God's message. The fact that he not only travels to many places, but fills stadiums until its packed shows how his audience wants to see him and that his message is very important. Nick Vujicic's determination to motivate his crowd reflects back to them to motivate others in return. The obstacles that he has over come, from limbs or not, help display an example of how our struggles aren't as difficult or challenging as others.

Vujicic is strong due to his great faith and how he gave confidence to others. His strength comes truly from years of accepting who he is and how God has taken his limbs from him for a reason as it is said: "Vujicic also shares how his faith in God has become a central message and motivating factor in his life. He stated in an interview posted on the Web site for the 'Life without Limbs' nonprofit agency:  'I came to realize that He could use my condition and circumstances, for His glory. That gave me a fresh perspective. ... If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!'" ("Nick Vujicic") It may have taken a long time until Nick Vujicic was able to realize that God accepts him and that's all that matters. For someone to come to the realization that their condition cannot be fixed or cured, is a great way to show that he has strength that a person with arms and legs would have to establish. His life seemed to get to it hardest point when he states on his organization website, Life without Limbs: "three sonograms failed to reveal complications. And yet, the Vujicic family was destined to cope with both the challenge and blessing of raising a son who refused to allow his physical condition to limit his lifestyle." As Nick Vujicic's mother, it must have been extremely hard to see that her son will never have the ability to care for himself. He then took that doubt from his family and, with their support, was able to accomplish many jobs that seemed to be impossible. Vujicic over the years learned to fish, paint and even swim! (Vujicic, Nick."Life without Limbs") He used the strength from his willing heart, rather than from arms and legs. Nick Vujicic explains how his inner strength didn't come from surpassing barriers from everyday tasks as a handicapped person but from his trust in God to lead his life.

Nick Vujicic felt that his purpose on earth was not for himself, but for others' benefit. In "Attitude is Altitude,"  He told the public about: "'at age eight, I could not see a bright future ahead and I became depressed. When I was ten years old, I decided to end my life by drowning myself in a bathtub. After a couple attempts, I realized that I did not want to leave my loved ones with the burden and guilt that would result from my suicide. I could not do that to them."' Even though he was hurting and depressed, he wanted the ones who inspired him to keep on going, and to not feel guilt for his own selfless decision. Although Nick Vujicic at the time felt that suicide was the only way to take away the pain, it wouldn't have taken the pain away from others. When Nick Vujicic sensed that he was weak and unable to carry on, he put his utmost amount of faith in God to carry him through. Many of his viewers were able to relate to his battle of perseverance and translate it to their meaning of life. In Vujicic's most recent book, Unstoppable, he quoted: "he had arranged for me to speak at a medical seminar, and I didn't want to disappoint him. But when I arrived, he could see I was emotionally and physically drained. 'You have to take care of yourself first,' he said." As easy as giving up could have been, he knew that the people in the seminar needed, maybe even desperately needed, to hear the truth and learn from his speech. This illustrates how he worked so hard that he was putting his health at risk. Once many people in our world realize that they are greatly admired, most of them become consumed by their own pride, but not Nick Vujicic. His work was not created for the goodness of him but all of God's people.

Nick Vujicic is known for his determination, strength and selflessness considering his spirit of giving insight on the positivity in our society. He first became impacted when he saw what inspiration the man in the newspaper was giving, and so he also wanted people to feel the same way about him.Vujicic's message to spread positivity has change lives all over the nation. He eliminated thoughts of negatively, selfish-desires, sinfulness and ugliness. He has motivated those who need to seek for God's purpose in their life. Nick Vujicic is a huge inspiration for everyone because he teaches us all to find true happiness anywhere and everywhere. We need more like Nick Vujicic because we would all appreciate more and be able to concentrated on the important things in life. When Nick Vujicic wakes up in the morning, he still faces the same challenges that he was born with like getting out of bed and morning routines. Instead of dwelling on the fact that he has no limbs, Vujicic sees all of the lives that he has touched everyday and has came to realization that his limitations are a blessing. As Nick Vujicic says at the end of all his testimonies, "I'm happy; why aren't you?" ("Nick Vujicic")
