Emperor Napoleon

Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. He married a widow called Josephine de Beauharnais. Napoleon’s father, Carlo, sent his two eldest sons, Napoleon, and Joseph, to a French military college. In 1785, Napoleon became second lieutenant in the artillery regiment. The reason why I think Napoleon Bonaparte is considered a hero is because he was selfless and courageous.

Napoleon Bonaparte was selfless to me because he changed peoples’ lives. Napoleon modernized local government, and encouraged the building of new roads, bridges, and canals. He also set up the bank of France, and created a new honor for outstanding people- the Legion of Honor. One big change that he made was ending the split with the revolution it had brought about. His laws are still the basics of French law today.

Napoleon

When his army defeated the Austrians, the Austrians made peace on his terms. He also supported the revolution with enthusiasm. When Napoleon became emperor he had his brothers become princes. For the army Napoleon made seventeen generals into Marshals of the empire. When his army was attacked in the middle of the night he led some of his last remaining troops to safety.

Napoleon Bonaparte is courageous because he led the French armies to victory. He also made new laws so people can live a better life.

This is why I think Napoleon Bonaparte is a hero.
