Many people believe that drug addicts are terrible people, and should not be admired. Little do they know, drug addicts are regular people, trapped behind lies, and some of the most terrible drugs known to man. Unfortunately drugs can take a hold of people and ruin them. However, if you’re saved in time, you can still make it. Nic Sheff saved himself just in time, and is one of the most amazing people. He has overcome his addiction, and that makes him so brave to take on that task. Once you’re addicted it is so much harder to become sober. It takes a lot of healing, the process of detox, and years and years of staying clean. I admire Nic, and always will, because he has overcome many obstacles in his life, he’s so creative with his writing, and he is very passionate about helping others.

Nic Sheff has overcome many obstacles in his life, and has seen much tragedy in his time. At a young age, his parents were divorced, causing him to have to adapt to a different life. He mostly lived with his father and was treated more like an adult than as a child. Their relationship was a great one but it was still very hard for him to overcome the divorce. Drug addiction was the greatest obstacle he ever had to overcome. That goes for anyone who has been addicted to drugs. Sheff had to be very strong-willed and have lots of determination. Nic was very brave for trying to overcome the disease. Going through detox is a very painful and draining process, which is actually scary. Knowing this, he still got help, and stayed strong to get through it. Nic stays in shape and is very athletic. It is common knowledge that exercise not only keeps you in shape, but is a great alternative to bad habits. He spends plenty of time riding bikes, and keeping his mind away from heroine.

Not only is Nic strong for overcoming his obstacles, but is also very talented. He wrote the book Tweak, which is one of the best books I’ve ever read. In the book, he tells about his life, and the very hard process of overcoming drugs. It tells of how he hurt his family and the others around him, as well as how he was feeling through all of it. His writing style is amazing and I could feel his pain as he explained it. It was like the book had come to life and I was standing beside him through all the pain. He actually almost died, and would be dead now if it weren’t for rehab.

Sheff is a very passionate person. Not only about the people he loves, but about helping people who are addicted to drugs. He has worked in rehabilitation centers as a volunteer to help addicts. Nic helped addicts by sticking by them and checking up on them. He was there when the addict needed to talk, or might possibly relapse. He worked to talk them out of it or went to see them to get their minds off the addiction. Sheff’s book said about how much he regretted hurting the people he loved. When he was with them he felt as if he was on top of the world. He feels so passionately about everyone he cares about. He even loved the people he met by doing drugs. To me, he seems to be the type of person that will bend over backwards for people. Nic was always worried about what other people thought and was always trying to be what everyone wanted him to be. Although, when you’re not happy with yourself, people get that vibe and they won’t be happy either. He has figured that out and now does good things for himself, as well as others.

In conclusion, Nic Sheff is an amazing person with great capabilities. He’s super strong for overcoming the crazy obstacles in life, as well as extremely talented, and passionate about people. He wrote the book to help addicts, hoping that they would see his story and be inspired to get better. In my opinion, Nic is great and hopefully people look past the addict part, and see the amazing person I see. Once an addict, always an addict. Nic will continue the struggle of fighting the urge to do drugs. For that, I admire him, and he will always be a hero in my eyes.
