Ryan Nyquist

by Jacob from Commerce City

What is your definition of a hero? I think a hero is someone who isn’t afraid to do anything. I think a hero is someone who takes risks and is brave. A hero is someone who will fall and get up again and try until they conquer what they are trying to do. A hero is someone who accomplishes one thing and then tries another. A hero is someone who is persistent. One of my heroes is Ryan Nyquist. Ryan Nyquist is a professional BMX rider.

Ryan Nyquist has accomplished so many things in his career so far. He has been to many competitions and has won many of the ones that he has entered. He was born in Los Gatos, California on March 6, 1979. His hometown is Greenville, North Carolina. He has been a participant since 1991 and a competitor since 1995. He has also had a bike named after him from the Haro company.

He is very good when it comes to pulling off very hard tricks. He can do backflips, supermans, 720's and barspins. He is an expert when it comes to dirt and park. He dominates at many biking events. He is very popular and is also on different video game systems. He works hard on his tricks and practices on them until he gets down and can pull them off.

Ryan Nyquist started riding at the age of 11. His first sponsor was The Jiffy Market in Los Gatos. He started progressing at the age of 16 or 17. His first contest he entered was Sheep Hills Enduro Contest in 1996. Haro sponsored Nyquist in 1997. Nyquist moved in with Dave Mirra in North Carolina. He learned most of his skills at The San Jose Ramp Club. He said that his goal for the X-Games was to remain one of the top ten.

To me Ryan Nyquist is a hero because I ride BMX bikes and do tricks. He is a role model to me even though I will never be able to pull off half of the tricks that he does. I look up to Nyquist because he does his tricks with style. Ryan Nyquist gets along with a lot of other riders such as Dave Mirra, Mat Hoffman and many more. He pulls off his tricks with style, courage, and perseverance.
