OSKAR in 1950

“The ordinary man is involved in action, the hero acts. An immense difference,” as Henry Miller once said. This quote relates to Oskar Schindler's actions. Saving his money as a salesman, he saved over 1,000 Jewish people from the Holocaust by working them in a factory as well as hiding it from the Nazi guards. People around the world are in remembrance of his amazing life saving event. He is remembered in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

As all of his amazing actions show he had a great early life. He was born on April 28, 1908 in Zwittau, Austria- Hungary. As he grew up he lived in an exceedingly religious home and with incredibly inspiring parents which helped him throughout his life. Next door to the Schindler’s lived a Rabbi whose two boys became close to Oskar. In 1930 he made a fortune when his factory opened where he made enamelware, where it filled military contracts for the Nazis. After a while he moved his factory because the Red Army was coming closer.

For a brief review, the Holocaust was the killing of a millions of people by the Nazi’s during World War II. The goal for the Nazi’s was to eliminate all the Jews from around Germany. Six million Jews died along with Polish and Russian people. Some of the people were sent to either concentration camps or a gas chamber. Mr. Schindler helped save some of Jews from death.

Though the Holocaust was devastating Oskar may have changed the lives of a lot of people. Just to remind you Oskar saved 1,200 people from the Holocaust. Before this happened he opened three factories around Germany. A famous quote Oskar once said was, "If you saw a dog going to be crushed under a car, would you help him?" After all of the holocaust when Oskar died he entered the Holocaust Memoriam Museum. They also made a movie of all of his actions called, "Schindler's List."

Heroes are expressed by bravery, giving out their life and heart. Perseverance, to show they can. Also inspiring, to give a good example. Oskar Schindler gave his heart out to people. Giving his factory to those who needed it most. I admire his extraordinary actions toward his people. Forever I will remember him and, give his story to other people.
