King Tubby born Osbourne Ruddock, was a very influential record producer, musician, and business owner in Jamaica during the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s. He has shown enormous creativity and stability through out his life and career

King Tubby lived in Jamaica in the latter part of the 20th century. He started out running a Sound system which became very successful because of his enormous creative drive. This Sound system employed many poor Jamaicans and eventually became a record studio, which helped bring reggae to the rest of the world.

King Tubby practically created two new types of music with his genius innovations, Dub and Electronic. The methods he used and the electronic equipment he created influenced many types of music. When you look at his life you can plainly see that, Osbourne Ruddock changed the international musical landscape forever.

King Tubby has inspired me along with numerous generations of people. He was able to transcend the limits of a poverty stricken island, and along the way became one of the most important figures in sound technology.
