In 2003 Oprah became the first African American woman to become a billionaire. This inspiring talk show hostess began her journey on Jan. 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was raised by her mother in Mississippi but was going through hard times suffering physical and mental abuse. But through all her times she came out to be very generous, loving and caring women. Oprah is one of the most successful talk show hostesses in the world and one reason for that is because of the generosity she presents to her audience. Oprah states, “I don't think you ever stop giving. I really don't. I think it's an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a check. It's being able to touch somebody's life.”(Oprah Winfrey). She always gives to her fans and gives to charities. She donates around 43% of her salary to charities because she has a big heart and that what she loves to do. In the words of Oprah, “Devote today to something so daring even you can’t believe you’re doing it.”(Oprah Winfrey). She encourages others to take big strides to give to people who are less fortunate than we are. She wants us to try to help others every day because she is only one person and the more people that she can get to help, there will be more people who will get helped.

Oprah is one of the most caring human being on this earth, donating over 303 million dollars in 2007 to people in need. Oprah says, “My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”(Oprah Winfrey). Oprah wants us to live our best lives and don’t waste a moment of it because she cares about everybody no matter who you are. She wants us not only to live our own life to its full potential but be responsible for helping others to live their best life too. She also says “Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.” (Oprah Winfrey). She wants us to be glad for what we have because a lot of people don’t have a lot of stuff. Oprah cares for everybody and wants everybody to succeed in life and think about all the things we have and others don’t.
Oprah’s rough child turned Her into a generous, caring and loving person and that’s why she is a hero. Oprah cares for everybody and is generous to everybody and she wants us to do the same. Oprah inspires me and others by being the best she can be, taking big steps in life and working to reach her goal.
