“Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser." These words of Paul Newman show his determination to do his best at whatever he tried. He was adventurous, loyal, and generous. Paul Newman was born on January 26, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul Newman has one brother named Arthur and his two parents named Arthur and Teresa. His father owned a sporting goods store and his mother was a homemaker. In high school Paul wanted to be a professional athlete because he loved football. Later in his life he wanted to become a pilot, but he was colorblind. Paul Newman died of lung cancer on September 26, 2008, at age eighty-three.

Paul Newman started Newman’s Own, a food production charity in 1982. He donated 100% of his profits to charities. The company started with a brand of salsa and dressing. It expanded to include pasta salad, lemonade, and popcorn. In 2006, he gave donations of about 200 million dollars. He had a summer camp called, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. He got the name from his film Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance Kid. The camp is free of charge and 13,000 children have visited there.

Generous is a good way to describe Paul Newman. He did a lot of acting; one film he did was about racing cars. Paul Newman also did a film for the HBO miniseries, Empire Falls. He starred in the movie The Color Of Money. He got the Academy Award for best actor. He always wanted to win.

Adventurous is another way Paul Newman is a hero, because he was always doing exciting things. He started racing cars in 1972. He went and worked with his stunt actor to learn how to race. He wanted to race in his film, so he did. Paul Newman won four SCCA professional national championships between 1979 and 1986. He had a great time racing for his film.

Paul Newman is a hero to me because he was a great actor and gave most of his money to charities. He was definitely not greedy! His wife said that he was a good husband because he stayed by her side during their long marriage. He lived a good and respectful life!
