Most people that I know have a hero. A hero is someone who has a positive impact on the world or in someone's personal life. A hero defines who we should act like. Most of the time the people we look up to are our heroes. My hero is my mother. She has character traits such as commitment, truthfulness, and nurturing. These traits aren't easily found in people today. My mother is my hero because she is always supporting my sister and I thought thick and thin. Getting to know my mom over the years made me clearly understand how selfless she truly is. When she lectures me, it's a motivational speech. My mom is the only reason why I am "soo" determined to get ahead in my life and accomplish great things.
Commitment can be one of the most difficult choices in a person's life. My mother is committed to helping my sister and I get the best education a student can receive. When you are committed to something, you put it first in your life. My mother did exactly that. She will go above and beyond for my sister and my education and to spend time with us. My mother believes that the best way to stay close to one another is to open up and spend quality time with one another. We bond very often so our relationship will always be close and never change. I remember two years ago my mother stayed up until two a.m. helping my sister with her chemistry final project. Initially, my older cousin was supposed to help Krupa but he "forgot". Krupa, my sister was very upset, that she only pulled through doing her project because my mom was motivating her, saying that no matter what, she would do everything in her ability to help her out and finish the project together. If there is much housework to be done but I have a test coming up, my mother won't ask me to do one thing. She will take my responsibilities as well as hers. My mom would tell me as a child that school should be my number one priority and that's all I should worry about. She encourages me to set high standards for myself and go for it! My mom will always be committed to taking care of our extended family. She was the one who took care of them the most, especially my grandfather and grandmother, ten times more than my aunts or uncles ever did. No matter how many times she was betrayed, she never broke her commitment, even if she was hurt.
Truthfulness is extremely difficult to find in a person's character. Many people in life say that you can trust them but many of those times you can't. People who stick to their word are rare. My mom never breaks trust. She will always go by her word. Not one day has come that my mother lied to me. She will never tell anyone else's secrets. I can recall one time in the past when I spoke to a waiter in a rude manner. As soon as the waiter left, my mom truthfully told me that it was the wrong way to speak to anyone. She said that in her opinion she didn't appreciate the waiter's tone either. She added that speaking to someone in a rude tone doesn't change anything. I was very elated that my mom told me upfront what I didn't do right. That was the best way I could have learned I made a mistake and not to repeat it on purpose again. Just a while back in seventh grade I had to write a narrative. I couldn't really connect with the topic but I gave it my all. After I finished I asked my mom to read it critically. The response wasn't the one I was looking forward to. My mom told me to make some minor changes to my story so it would be more appealing to my reader. I took her noble advice and fixed my story. I received and A on my narrative. I was so delighted my mom was truthful to me because I realized it was for my own good. I love her for being truthful with me!
When someone is nurturing, they're caring and loving to the maximum. My mother is always nurturing my sister and I. She learned that trait from her mother, my grandmother. I am hoping to catch on to that trait from my mother as well. When my father passed away, my mother was very nurturing. She tried to make my sister and I feel like nothing had changed. My sister and I were having a difficult time in the beginning of school that year. My mother was the person that gave me courage and all the love I could ever ask for to complete school. After my father was gone, my life changed a lot. I cannot emphasize enough how different my life is now than it was before. My mother hid her own pain and sorrow, the only thing that mattered to her after that was loving, comforting, and encouraging my sister and I to do the best of our ability in life we can. At a very young age we saw how quickly life can be taken away and why it is important to make all the time we have worth something. "I know your dad would be very proud of you two if he was here today," says my mom to my sister and I all the time. My mom's words motivate me in life to never give up. Last year in history class I got a B on a research essay report. I was immensely upset that day at home, I started to cry. My grades mean a great deal to me in school. I had put lots of effort and time into that project, I was very disappointed in myself. My mother told me its okay. She comforted me by telling me I tried my best and that's all that mattered. Her nurturing gives me a boost on life and I really love it! My mother is always there for me no matter what and that's what counts.
My hero is my mother. My mom's strongest characteristics and my favorite are commitment, truthfulness, and nurturing. The way my mom inspires me to be a better person is the way she takes care of me. When I was young, my mother used to sing three lullabies to me so I would fall asleep happily. My mom always looks after my sister and me. She tries her hardest to keep me interested and motivated to go above and beyond in school. Whenever she knows I did something wrong, she will point it out to me so that I know what I did wrong and fix my mistake. My mother always puts my sister and I before anything else. I really love that fact because it means so much to me! From my mother I am inspired to never tell a lie. A lie will never do anything the truth was meant to. I'm inspired to help others out even if they weren't helpful to me. That just proves I am the bigger person and helping others makes me a better person at heart. Everyone will make mistakes in their life including me. I can learn from my mistakes and do better. I am very inspired to stay committed to what I love. Seeing it from my own mother made me realize how much you can learn about yourself and others, it's very beneficial. From my mother I am inspired to go for the gold and I'll reach platinum. My mother is my hero and I love her.
