Phil Robertson is a duck-aholic. He is also the Duck Commander! Phil and his wife Kay started duck commander in 1973. Phil used his house as his small factory hand building duck calls. Phil attended Louisiana Tech. He played over Terry Bradshaw.
Phil was born in Vivian, Louisiana. As a high-school all state football player. I mentioned already but Phil played over Terry Bradshaw. Phil got his bachelor's degree in physical ed.. He also got his masters degree in education. He spent alot of years teaching. He and Kay had four boys. Jase, Willie, Jep, and Alan.
In the mid 70's, Phil turned his life over to the lord and made some dramatic changes in the way he was living. He is building a reputation all over the country for his faith and belief in the Almighty. He speaks to different and sometimes hundreds of different churches. Duck calls have been sold in all fifty states and in several countries.
The boys helped Kay and Phil package the calls at their home factory. Kay helped with the shipments. When Phil wasn't home, Kay and the boys attended to nets and brought the fish to the market. That was their way of living. Duck Commander is a family owned business. Willie (1 of the 4 boys) is the CEO of the family owned company. They still attend nets on the Ouachita, River to feed all of the employees and family.
Duck Commander was born in 1973. Products now include more than just duck calls. Not long after the success of calls, Phil started to make hunting videos. The Duckmen videos revolutionized duck hunting with their rock-n-roll, "in yo face" style. His calls and techniques are helping other hunters. It isn't often a person can live a dream, but Phil Robertson, The Duck Commander has proven it. Duck Commander began in 1973. His home became his "factory". Phil's quote " No duck would even place in a call contest". A duck call for duck killers, not "World Champion-style" duck calls. Phil received a patent for his call in 1972. He traveled store to store trying to sell his calls most ending in rejection. Commercial fishing gave him money to put food on the table and to build duck calls.
Phil Robertson turned his life into a dream. Phil and his kids go hunting all the time. They love to hunt and fish together and make memories. The Duck Commander is still a huge part of Phil's life. Phil will often go in the warehouse to check on things once in awhile. All in all Phil changed the sport of duck hunting forever.
