What makes a good hero- Courage, perseverance, self motivation, selflessness, and dedication. Courage because it takes the inner person to say that he/she is not going to sit back and let the world fail. Self-motivation is key because you can't always count on others reaction to the job done. Perseverance because whenever an obstacle steps out in front in front of you, make your make your way around it. Without dedication no other trait can be obtained nor turned to be better because you have given up already before you started. Selflessness because you have to realize that it is no longer about you and your likings, it's about others. You need to come to a point where you are ready to take the challenge to help out others, not for the individual benefit but to help and pour out into other's lives. Paul Rusesabagina has fulfilled those traits. He has demonstrated that he has what it takes to be a hero in which he is one due to his selflessness, motivation, and dedication. Paul has given people the meaning to survive and to reach out to others in need. Paul is not an average African man, he has some of the great qualities that were portrayed to keep his people safe.
Paul Rusesabagina has been a part of a Hutu's and Tutsi's revolution where the Hutus where trying to take over the Tutsi's and the Tutsi's was not going to let it happen their hundreds of thousands of deaths, women getting raped, baby's getting killed , family's getting killed right in front of each other. The violence stopped at the hotel that Paul was soon in charge of. Paul negotiated with the outside forces and with the Hutu's until they couldn't help anymore or until things got ugly. It was only Paul, when Paul got his people through it all I feel that Paul would have died on a cross like Jesus did if he had to because that is how much his passion for getting through this so his people can see the other side of things were intact. That's why he inspired me. The one trait that sticks out is his perseverance. Paul never gave up. He had a gun put to his head and he never even flinched. With Paul's selflessness he no longer cared about anything but his people. Paul has demonstrated what it means and how to get to that hero state of mind by simply being him, Paul Rusesabagina. Paul really acted in faith believing and telling his wife and kids that the war would soon be over and it was. Paul is recognized in life by the movie Hotel Rwanda. This movie is his recognition of part of what he had to go through and see in his leadership to success. If I were to meet Paul Rusesabagina I would break down in tears of joy knowing that he has overcome it all that he has been though the most intriguing time and he surpassed it all.
