A painting of Patrick Henry |
Patrick Henry was born on May 29, 1736. He was born in Hanover County, Virginia. At the age of ten his parents knew he was something special. They knew that he was not like the others. During his life he was elected to the House of Burgesses. After that he was elected governor of Virginia. He moved to Louisiana County in 1776. Unfortunately he died on June 6, 1799. That was the day America lost a great man.
Patrick Henry was a hero at heart. He was very brave. He was never too afraid to stand up to England. He was a great leader. He led people through probably the toughest time America has ever faced. Patrick Henry never gave up. He just kept going, even when the odds were against him.
I chose Patrick Henry because I think without him back then, there would be no America now! He was a hero to America. No matter how tough the obstacles got he just kept on going. He would have never stopped going until he got to the end. He made America……..America.
