George Smith Patton Jr.

by Chris from Wyoming

George Smith Patton Jr. was born on November 11, 1885. He was born into a middle class family on the Wilson-Patton ranch near Pasadena, California. He was very attached to his father, he seemed everywhere with him. Instead of sending Patton Jr. to public schools Patton Sr. instead read great slabs of classical literature which was probably the biggest reason General Patton was the way he was. The readings of his father implanted the ambition to be a soldier. In order to be a solder, Patton Jr. had to attend formal education at 12 years old. He first had to learn how to read and write, and with his ambition he achieved in record time. Once he had finished basic scholastic requirements, Patton Jr. went to Virginia Military Academy.

After a year there he passed the examination and was admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1904.
