Gary Payton and The Gary Payton Foundation donated and distributed 200 full Thanksgiving dinners to members of the Los Angeles Challengers Boys & Girls Club and residents in the local neighborhood. Gary is Interviewed by a Challengers Member

Gary Payton is a great hero for anyone. He is my hero because he is a great basketball player and also helps unpriveleged youngsters. Most celeberties choose not to share their wealth, money or fame. He is a great person with a huge heart and uses his own money to help these unpriveleged youngsters.

The Gary Payton Foundation was established October 1996. Gary Payton himself finances almost all administrative costs allowing beneficiaries to receive all of the benefits from contributions. The Gary Payton Foundation benefits young kids who don't have that much. Currently June 2, 2004 at 4:30 p.m. The Gary Payton Foundation has raised an enormous amount of money: $1,701,093.78.

Some of The Gary Payton Foundation beneficiaries include the: Odessa Brown Children's Clinic and the United Negro College Fund (which is the nation's oldest, most successful minority higher education assistance organization). The Foundation also helps The Zion Preparatory (a non-profit private school located in Seattle), and Childhaven (an agency focused on it's primary aim to provide intervention in the lives of abused children). These beneficiaries are only a few of the many beneficiaries for The Gary Payton Foundation.

The Gary Payton Foundation also holds events that you can attend and contribute money to. Gary Payton's Foundation also has many partners like: Alaska Airlines, Seastar Resturaunt and Bar, Perkins Coie LLP, and finally Pudget Sound Digital. As you can see Gary Payton cares a lot about young kids who don't have that much and he understands what they are going through.

Gary Payton has a big heart and even though he is said to have the worst attitude in the NBA and is short tempered he still has a huge heart and hopefully will be recognized one day for his heart and achievements.
