His name is Edson Arantes Do Nacimiento, best known as Pele. He was born on October 23rd 1940, in Tres Coracoes, Brazil. He is from a very poor family; his dad was called Dondinho, and his mom Celeste. Dondinho was an old soccer player who never succeeded, and Celeste was a very sweet woman who was in charge of the house work. He didn’t have money to study, so he gave his life to soccer. The thing that motivated Pele to become a soccer player, and a helper of many people in the world, happened in 1950. It was the final of the World Cup. Brazil was winning, but Uruguay won space back and doubled the score. After that many people in Brazil were very upset. But the worst thing for Pele was that his dad was very sad. Ever since then, Pele promised himself he was going to bring the Cup to Brazil.

During all his life, Pele has dedicated his time to soccer and helping others. He was the first who helped his friends when they fell down. When he grew up he showed the whole world how to play soccer, and delighted us with all his acrobatic movements, and those jumps he did to get the balls and hit it with his head. Nowadays, he has helped many children and people with problems in the entire world by making donations, and creating soccer schools.

Even though I haven’t met him, Pele is my hero. He is my motivation for being a soccer player. He transformed himself in a historic character only by wishing. And he has helped many people, just by being himself. So I want to be like him. He hasn’t done anything for me but he came to Colombia to donate here, and I am part of Colombia so Pele has helped me. I admire all people who help other people.
