Peter the Great

Roman Rolland once said, “A hero is a man who does what he can.” A hero can inspire anyone to keep on going and to never give up no matter what life’s obstacles are. A hero does not have to be a celebrity or a famous person; a hero can be an ordinary person or even an animal. Peter the Great is a hero in Russia because he was a great political leader.

Peter the Great is a hero of Russia. He was born on May 26, 1672 and died on January 28, 1725. Peter had a rough childhood. His father, Alexis, died in January of 1676 when Peter was only four years of age. To make matters worse Peter’s brother, Theodore III, died in 1682 when Peter was only ten years of age. When Peter’s brother died, there were more problems. Peter’s mother came from the Naryshkin family and her family wanted young Peter to be the tsar of Russia. Peter could not be the tsar of Russia because he was too young. His sister Sophia was given the position of tsar in 1682, but in 1689 Peter became Russian leader.

As an emperor Peter the Great helped build roads and also canals in Russia to help the people travel and trade. Also, Peter the Great brought the western culture to the great country of Russia by bringing horses and props from the western culture. Peter the Great improved the Russian Army and Naval forces. Peter the Great turned Russia into a greater world power.

Peter the Great is a hero of Russia because he was a leader. He kept Russia in order and made Russia a great country. Peter the Great was a dreamer because he once said, "I have conquered an emperor, but I have not been able to conquer myself.” He was a dreamer because he always wanted to keep on going and if the littlest thing was wrong Peter the Great would try to fix it. Also he was brave for being a emperor of Russia.

A hero does not have to be famous or a celebrity. A hero can be an extraordinary person. A hero can inspire people to never give up and to believe that you can do whatever you want to do in life. Peter the Great is a hero because he was a believer and also a leader. Peter the Great was a great emperor of Russia and a great hero to the Russian people because he helped bring improvement and the western culture to Russia. Peter the Great is a hero.
