My hero is Brian Piccolo. He was a great running back, and he was one of the most determined people in the world. He faced lung problems and still kept playing.
Brian Piccolo was born on October 31, 1943 in Pittsfield Massachusetts. His family moved to Florida. Brian attended Central Catholic High School. He first became interested in football from his brothers. In high school, he played right tackle. After high school, he became a star running back. After college he was not drafted by any NFL teams.
Afterwards, he was picked up by the Bears, but there was a problem. Gale Sayers was on the same team. Gale Sayers was a hot shot running back. Finally, when Gale Sayers was injured, Brian did not get to play because he was injured, too. Soon after, Brian got a tumor in his lungs and then the doctors had to take out part of his lungs. Brian Piccolo died at age 26. Two of his accomplishments include starting for a few games and a reward that is named after him.
Brian Piccolo has inspired me by not being the best on his team, but through his determination he is now honored. I have learned many things from Brian Piccolo. One of the things I have learned is even if I am not the fastest or the strongest, I can achieve great goals.
Brian Piccolo faced adversity in his life, but came out a winner. By his determination, he was able to become an NFL football player and become one of the most honored sports heroes in the world. I am inspired by his actions.
