The Police of Mexico

There`s a lot of federal, state and local police and law enforcement organizations that exist in Mexico, to make it a safer country. Their responsibilities and jurisdictions often overlap. The most important law enforcement organization in Mexico is the Federal Judicial Police. These police officers do investigations and can arrest people. They also deal a lot with drug trafficking, trafficking of weapons, and bank robberies. These police work all over the country.

The Federal Police tripled in size between 1982 and 1984, from 500 officers to 1,500. In 1988 1,500 Federal Judicial Police officers were added to fight against drugs in Mexico.

The main Mexico City police force, consists of 29,000 officers organized into thirty-three groups. It is the largest law enforcement organization in Mexico. More than 100 serious crimes are reported each day in Mexico City. Some people lack confidence in the police and think that they misbehave and make crime. We don`t agree with this.

The first police unit in Mexico was formed at the end of the 19th century. In 1984 the government started to coordinate the police forces throughout the country. On the 13th of December of 1998, the national police force was formed to fight against organized crime in Mexico so that they could improve safety and security here. On the 10th of July 2008, the Mexican government made plans to double the number of policemen working against the drugs. October 25th is the day of federal police in Mexico.

The police in Xalapa are very important because they take care of citizens and the city. They make sure the city is safe at all hours during the day and makes the world a better place. One day I left my house because I wanted to go to school. I told my mom and my mom thought I was playing. I was going to school and I left my house and a taxi driver was about to take me but a policeman told him not to and he took me home. Later I found out the taxi man was a bad person and I wasn`t going to be safe with him. The police officer saved me. I am lucky he was there. The world needs more people like police this officer because they are very courageous people. They are like superheroes! in their own way if we didn`t have police, our world would be chaotic and I wouldn`t have as much freedom because I would be living in fear.
