Curtis Pride

My hero is Curtis Pride. He played on the teams Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox Atlanta Braves and the Detroit Tigers. He played for seven years before retiring in the year 2001. He was born deaf and he had a hard life growing up in Washington DC. He accomplished a lot playing baseball and he still is a great sports hero for children around the world.

Curtis Pride is determined. Curtis Pride is determined because he didn't give up on his dream to play in the Major League Baseball--- he just stuck with it and succeeded and now he is someone's hero. He is also determined because he didn't let anyone stand in his way of reaching his goal. He couldn't play deaf until he learned.

Curtis Pride is brave. Curtis Pride is brave because he didn't care what people said about him. Even when his father said he could't play when he was a little kid he didn't stop. Curtis Pride didn't let people bully him around about how he was deaf ---many people made fun of his handicap -- but he did not let them stop him from following his dream.

Curtis Pride is unselfish. Curtis Pride is unselfish because he didn't always want to play he new he was deaf and handicaped and he knew the coach would play him when the time was right. Even thought he didn't play all the time he was a big part of the team when the team saw him play it made them play better that's why Curtis Pride is unselfish.

In conclusion I picked these three traits because i think Curtis Pride shows an examples of BRAVE,DETERMINED,UNSELFISH. I think Curtis Pride is one of the greatest sports hero of our time. That's why I picked Curtis Pride as my hero.
