Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens AKA "Queen Latifah" is one of the most respected women in the USA. She grew up in New Jersey with both her parents until they divorced when she was ten. Her mom a school teacher and her dad an officer, while Dana was raised in a baptist church and attended Catholic school. She was on the basketball team in high school as well as school plays such as "The Wiz".

She is looked up to for one of many reasons, she is a great actress, rapper, and singer at that. From many different types of personalities to be played to working on her singing career. Queen Latifah has starred in many award winning movies. A few of my favorites that has inspired her to be my hero by her amazingly great attitude and inspiration as an actress; Beauty Shop, Hair Spray, as well as shows that she has been in. She is my hero because she once said in the movie "Beauty Shop" - "I am a phenomenal woman." Either it was a movie or not, she said it with such grace and such a smile, you couldn't help but feel motivated to feel that with in ones-self.

She has given off such a positive impact on millions of peoples' life including mine. Researching the famous Queen Latifah I have come by surprise that she has had to cope w/ the pain of losing her older brother in 1992. Leading her to drug abuse and depression only to recover a short time after in 1993. Having her own issues and problems like being arrested and fined with possession of marijuana to being shot at with a friend. She has gone through typical life problems and tragedy's one wouldn't suspect a celebrity to have. Well she has, and she did while holding her head up high today and being a role model for woman across the country. I personally believe that she would be exactly as I imagine in person, a strong woman with many features as to why she is my hero.

I feel I can look up to her and all the successful things that she has accomplished. Especially since she has been through so much, her parents separating, her bothering passing away, getting shot at, etc. She is still looking forward. Not letting things phase her but make her stronger and go further in her future, including her career. Queen Latifah is my hero for many reasons I can't explain, she is in fact a phenomenal woman.
