My heroine is Queen Tamar, who was the queen of Georgia from 1189 to 1213. Tamar presided over the "Golden Age" of the medieval Georgian monarchy. She was the first woman to rule Georgia and when a woman is a monarch, it is very rare in the world history.
Tamar was successful, powerful, sometimes strict, in neutralizing this opposition and embarked on an energetic foreign policy aided by the downfall of the rival powers of Seleucid and Byzantine Empire. Although she was from a weak sex, she was one of the best monarchs in Georgian history. She has been canonized by the Georgian Orthodox Church as a saint. At that time everything in Georgia was arranged with accuracy. She is a face of Georgia and image of Tamar has acquired a legendary and romantic diverse set of folk songs, poems and tales illustrate her as an ideal ruler, a holy Woman. Many Georgian poets wrote rhymes about her, for example famous the poem "The King in the Panther's Skin" is dedicated to Queen Tamar.
