Rosa |
Rosa Parks was born on February, 1913 and died on October 24, 2005. She was an African American civil rights activist and strong woman the U.S. named the "Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement.
Rosa is famous for not giving up her seat on a city bus on December 1, 1955 to the bus driver James Blake's demand that she lose her seat to a white man. Her arrest and trial for that act of civil disobedience started the Boycott.
"Her subsequent arrest and trial for this act of civil disobedience triggered the Montgomery Bus Boycott, one of the largest and most successful mass movements against racial segregation in history, and launched Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the organizers of the boycott, to the forefront of the civil rights movement. Her role in American history earned her an iconic status in American culture, and her actions have left an enduring legacy for civil rights movements around the world."
Rosa Parks is my hero because of how she stood up for what was right on that sad day in December. But really because of she is a woman who has a voice to say how she feels about certain things.
