Ruby Bridges

To me a hero is someone that inspires you to do good things in the world, and it is someone who encourages you to keep trying no matter what trials you face in life. My hero is Ruby Bridges. Ruby Bridges is my hero, because she encourages me to do well in school and try my best to succeed. She encourages me, because she went through a lot of persecution and hatred just so she could go to school with other kids different from her race. Even though she went through all the persecution that she did she still never gave up, and she kept going to the school paving the way for other kids of her race to go to all white schools.

Currently Ruby is still living, in New Orleans, and she is 57 years old. For 15 years she has been a traveling agent, but that all changed when she became a parent to four sons. In 1999, she formed the Ruby Bridges Foundation which she is now the head of. The point is that Ruby Bridges has done many things in her life, and she was successful because she never gave up or said it was too hard. Ruby Bridges makes me think that if she can go through her trials and still do good things for other people then I can do it too.
