Ron Clark

by Taylor J from Poquoson

A hero is a person who is helpful, confident, and supportive. Ron Clark, Disney’s American Teacher of the Year, was confident that his students were smart. Ron was supportive of his students and was helpful to other educators.

My hero, Ron Clark, was educated at East Carolina University. After graduation he accepted a job in Aurora, North Carolina. Four years later he departed for Harlem to take a job teaching in inner city New York.

Ron Clark made his classes fun and followed the “Essential 55.” These rules taught the students manners, classroom rules and good work habits. He felt rules are for in school and out of school, like polite eating. He helped the kids learn the basic school techniques for the end of the year exams. At the end of the year Ron’s class did better than the A, B honor roll on the end of the year exams.

Ron Clark and Kim Bearden wanted to build a “dream school” in Atlanta. This school has all new computers, desks, and a lot more. In this school anyone can attend, you just have to be in 5th through 8th grade. After 8th grade this school will take you around the globe to six or seven continents. Some of the trips they take include New York City, Paris France, Tokyo Japan, South America, and more.

Ron Clark is my hero because he helped kids care about their schoolwork and their exams. Ron Clark accomplished his dream by helping these kids in their schoolwork. After researching Ron Clark, it made me happy because I’m going to a good school and have teachers that care about me. That’s why Ron Clark is my hero
