When I was a kid, maybe ten I saw the movie "Music of the Heart". I can't really put my finger on it but something changed that day. From that day on I wanted to play violin, and I got that chance in 6th grade that year, after turning eleven. But even when I had to move in the middle of the year, and leave my school violin behind, I couldn't stop thinking about that scene in Carnegie Hall when she played and it echoed. Later when I had move to P.A. I wrote three papers on her, each different of course.

During those years when I had no Violin to play, I became a singer, an artist and a writer. Each filled a hole that had once been there. But each time I heard Beethoven or some fiddler I would long for a violin. And in my Junior year of High School my family was Evicted and I moved here to Syracuse. And my friend , Emma, continued to say "Adriane, you moved for a reason, there has to be something there Fate knew you needed."

The first day of school came, and I hated the thought of a new chorus and English teacher. But when I walked into our schedule classrooms, I met someone.
"What do you teach?" I asked
"Band" she answered
"What programs do you have here?"
"Orchestra" she answered first, and my heart stopped, and tears came to my eyes. That's when I knew Emma had been right, and I got to have my happiness back.

I am now waiting on my third acceptance letter to the four private schools I applied to. Roberta changed my life, if it wasn't for her story and love for music I wouldn't have gotten this far. I wouldn't be becoming a teacher myself. I wish I could thank her in person, because I wouldn't be the person I am today without her indirect help.
