Hi, my name is Alex. I am from Marathon and I go to Marathon Middle School and it is very close to Wausau area. My hero is the Ronald McDonald House, and I pick this place because, my 3 year old brother has marrow blastoma. He has had it since he was 6 months old. We found out when he had a bump on his back and we thought it was just a bruise from daycare. Then we took him in and they did surgery on it. Then 2 weeks later we got a call from the Marshfield hospital, and they told us that Seth (my brother) has marrow blastoma! It was in his liver so they did surgery on that and took the bad cells out. On December we were told he was cancer free, and it was one percent chance that this cancer would come back! Then in February Seth was walking funny so we took him back in at the Marshfield Hospital and then they did a cat scan and his cancer came back he had it in his bonemarrow in his leg, and in his shoulder. Then he had to go to Minneapolis Twin cities at the University of Minnesota! So he got to stay at the Ronald McDonald house for 100 DAYS and in the end of November he came home and he hadn't been home for two months! He was excited to see his cats, and dogs, his room, friends, and our house again. So that is why I pick the Ronald McDonald House to be my hero!
