Robert Maldonado

by Cristian from Newark

Hey everybody, this is Cristian Palominos and what I am about to talk to you about is my uncle Robert Maldonado who is 16 years of age but sadly has passed away on June 24, 2010. His memory is still going to be alive and he was a amazing guy that anyone would like to meet or have as a friend/role model in his/her life. Overall he was a person that I can't even explain in words because he had impacted so many lives in a positive way. So you guys are probably wondering why I chose him out of all people. Well, I'm going to explain why.

The reason why I chose my uncle is because he would call me everyday wanting to hang out and every time we did, it just made me want to be with him more. The reason why is because he would always talk to me about positive things and inspire me to do good, he was never the type of person to pressure me into something I didn't want to do or influence me into negative things or thoughts. I remember him telling me "If you're not good at doing something do not give up because you can become perfect at it if you keep trying". Even though he's not here with me physically he is always going to be in my heart spiritually. And not a day goes by where I don't think of memories we shared together. Whenever I was sad or down he would be there to listen to me and give me advice, when no one made me laugh he did. He took me in as if I were his little brother and he was my big brother.

Some things my uncle Robert taught me was to be a man, respect girls like if they were your own mother. He also taught me to own up to my responsibilities and to not try to get myself out of it. There was a time where Robert's brother's car broke down and Robert called me and said "aye come to my house so we can go help out my brother because his car broke down by Newark Blvd". So I ended up going and he taught me how to put a new tire on the car and how to fix a leak on a motor. Overall he was just my favorite uncle and the best uncle anyone can ask for because he was only 16 and he already carried himself as an adult. At the age of 15 he gave birth to a daughter named Bella who is the prettiest baby he has put on this Earth.

My uncle was amazing. Any person who met him knows that too because he would never want to hurt anybody or harm them in any way. He had a heart of gold and took me in like a little brother, always having my back and leading me to be successful in life and I couldn't ask for anything else. All I know is that I really do not know where I would be if I did not have an uncle like my uncle Robert. I would be a lonely, sad, lost kid. I thank God everyday for putting him in my life. I wish he was still here by my side because things are just not right and it hurts me all the time just thinking or hearing the name because memories and flashbacks automatically pop up in my head.

Well now I am going to wrap it up and I just want to tell everyone thanks for taking time to read this. It means a lot to me. I also want to say for those who knew my uncle that he is still with us looking down on us. And for those who didn't know my uncle I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read this because honestly he was a great wonderful person. There's not too much I can really say besides just ask God why, but other than that I don't really have any words because I still can't accept or believe the fact he's gone. Whoever has lost a close friend/family member knows exactly what I mean.
