My own definition of a hero is a person who helps and cares for others, is a role model, and makes a difference in other's lives. A person who goes through obstacles to save others and risk their lives for them. A hero is also someone who is loyal and chooses to do the right things.
It's important to have a hero because children and also other people look up to them and base their lives on their hero. Heroes give us hope and courage. They can also inspire others and set a good example. A child can look up to a hero and want to be like them and that could lead them towards a good path, rather than a bad one.
My personal hero is my mother, Rachel. I chose her as my personal hero because she is a great mom. She has a great heart, is caring, and always is there if I need her. She helps provide and care for our family and is a great and kind person.
My mom is the "Best Mom" to me, because she has a caring heart. For example my mother will send money to our family in the Philippines for the holidays or if they really need it. Both her and my dad provide them with money for food and clothes. My mom teaches me not to be selfish and be happy with what I have now, because some people don't get to have those things. I'm very proud of my mom for caring about her family and for teaching me how to care for others, and how to be a good person.

To my mom, a hero is someone that makes an impact in your life. Her hero is the late president of the Philippines, Cory Aquino. She chose her as her hero because she gave the Filipino people their freedom. My mom said she worked hard for me and my sisters so we don't go through what she went through growing up. She believes in following your dreams. What makes her happy is having our family together, but what doesn't make her happy are the disappointments that can happen in life. I respect my mom because she cares and is a great person in my eyes.
