Rosa Parks

by Danielle

My hero is Rosa Louise McCauley / Parks. She was born February 4th, 1913. She died October 24th, 2005.That means that she lived until she was 88. Her birthplace was Tuskegee, Alabama. She then had to move with her mother to Montgomery, Alabama. Rosa Parks is an amazing woman to me.

One of Rosa Park's major accomplishments is that she tried to break the law of segregation or you would have to go to jail. Another major accomplishment is that she won many honorary degrees, got the Spingam Medal, and got the Service Award. There are many more too! Some obstacles Rosa Parks overcame are, she had to go to jail for sitting somewhere blacks can not sit. Yet she kept helping to get freedom. NAACP also helped her go through her obstacles. She worked as a seamstress which got her tired for the bus. Her husband was an obstacle because she also helped him and then Rosa wouldn't have a lot of time with the NAACP. Rosa went to jail because she sat somewhere she couldn't sit because she was black and that is called segregation.

The traits I chose for Rosa Parks are courage, selfless, and determination. I chose courage for Rosa because she was brave to stay in her seat and not move for the white people. I chose selfless because Rosa Parks was helping other people and she wasn't devoted to herself. I chose determination for Rosa Parks because she was determined to break the law of segregation.

Rosa Parks is my hero because if it weren't for her and Martin Luther King Jr. I would not have my cousins and I also wouldn't have my Uncle Justin. Another reason is because I wouldn't have my baby nephew or my sister in law. I feel really sad when I think of life without my cousins, my Uncle Justin, my nephew, and my sister in law. I love them and they are my family. That is why Rosa Parks is my hero!
