The hero I picked was in The Beatles band. He was born on July 7, 1940. He grew up in Liverpool, England. His Name is Ringo Starr. His real name is Richard Starkey Jr. He was a Catholic. In fact he was the only person who was religious in the band. He was the oldest but the shortest in the band.

Starr's parents split up when he was 3 years old. His mother, Elise, married Harry Graves. Starr liked Mr. Graves because he encouraged his passion for music. Ringo was often sick as a child. He was hospitalized for appendicitis, and pleurisy. He stopped going to school when he was 13 because he was sensitive to particular foods.

Starr was a great drummer. Ringo played a special role in the Beatles band. He composed unique drum parts for the Beatles songs. When you listen to a Beatles song, the drum parts help you identify the song as being from them. The other Beatles members liked Ringo because he added unique style and rhythm to their music.

While the other band member took drugs, Ringo refused to take drugs. The three other band members wrote the song "Come Together," while being under the influence of drugs. Ringo was a good example to his followers because he did not take part in some of the other members' bad habits.

Ringo was married to Maureen Cox on February 11, 1965. They had three children before divorcing in 1975. Their three children are Zak, Jason, and Lee. Zak has become a great drummer just like his father. Ringo was the first Beatles band member to become a grandfather. His oldest son Zak and his wife had a baby girl named Tatia Jayne Starkey.
