Robert Trujillo

by Grant from Texas

Rob was born in 1964. He grew up in California. In 1989, he joined the band Suicidal Tendencies. The band had songs such as "Institutionalized," "You Can't Bring me Down," and "War Inside My Head." He and the band's frontman, Mike Muir, started the funk band Infectious Grooves.

In the early 1990's, Rob started touring with The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. He played in Ozzy's band for almost 10 years.

Rob heard that Metallica was holding auditions to replace Jason Newsted. Rob decided to audition. Suicidal Tendencies and Metallica have shared stages many times, so Rob was already friends with the band. When Rob entered the audition room, Lars, James, and Kirk stood and applauded. On February 24, 2003, Rob was officially the bass player for Metallica. He recorded the album "Death Magnetic." The album had songs like "All Nightmare Long," "The Day That Never Comes," and "The Unforgiven 3." Rob also appears with Metallica in the video game "Guitar Hero: Metallica."

Rob Trujillo is my hero because he can play songs without using a pick, and Rob is an awesome person.
