My hero is Dale Earnhardt; he is my hero because I absolutely love NASCAR driving. Dale Earnhardt is one of the greatest and the most popular race car drivers in the world. He is one of those drivers who cares a lot about charity. He donated some of the money that he made and he donated some of what he had in his wallet. He was among the most beloved man in NASCAR and had NASCAR fans cheering for him race after race, because of how great he was. After his death, people built a statue of him in his honor for his bravery and greatness. One day, there was a little handicapped girl who wanted to meet Dale Earnhardt so bad, and when they met, the girl gave Dale a penny, she said to Dale Earnhardt, “you will win the Daytona 500 (a race that Dale had been dying to win for the past 20 years).” So he said thank you and then he gave her a hug.

When it was time for him to get into the car, he glued the same penny that the girl gave him onto his dashboard. During the 1998 Daytona 500 race, he drove his #3 car to the front to get into 1st place. By the end of the race, it was the final lap and then suddenly the caution flag came out because two cars wrecked, he was racing to the checkered flag. Soon he was the first person to cross the finish line, that meant he won the race. The crowd was cheering as loud as they could because he had won his first ever Daytona 500 race. The penny that the girl gave him was probably a lucky penny and Dale was happier than ever. As years passed, Dale continued to inspired everyone with his great work and achievements, no fan will ever forget the legacy of Dale Earnhardt. I hope you enjoyed my story of my hero. -Dale Earnhardt Sr. 1951-2001.
