Besides his tennis life, he is also very philanthropic. In 2003 he founded the Roger Federer Foundation which helps disadvantaged people and promotes sports, in 2005 he auctioned his US Open tennis racquet for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and more recently in 2010 he organised the first of many Hit for Haiti fundraisers. It turned out to be a huge success and Rod Laver Arena was packed to the rafters. The effort rose over $250,000; not including numerous donations from top tennis players as the event was being held. The fundraiser included appearances by top tennis players that included Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Stosur.
He has also donated a significant amount of his prize money to various charities throughout his career.
Roger’s great attitude and selflessness has gotten him very far and seen him win over 300 tournaments, spanning over his fifteen year career.
