by Steve from Wheeling

My hero is Robin Van Persie. He was born August 6, 1983 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He is a Dutch soccer player for Arsenal in England. In his early career he played for SBV Excelsior's youth squad. Robin Van Persie won the FA Community Shield and in his first season with London he won the FA Cup.

Robin Van Persie was raised in Kralingen Section of east Rotterdam. Robin Van Persie was a striker. In the national team he is occasionally deployed as a left/right winger as well.

Robin Van Persie is the son of two artists. He was pushed to follow his parents' path. Instead he played soccer. So then he joined the SPV Excelsior's youth squad. He made his claim to fame playing soccer for his hometown team Feyenoord. This is where he spent three seasons and then won the 2002 UEFA Cup. He had disagreements with coach Bert Von Marwijk. So Robin Van Persie got offered 2.75 million (euros) to go to Arsenal in 2004.

Robin Van Persie has 40 caps and 14 goals. That was with the Netherlands. He made his debut in 2005. He participated in the 2006 World Cup. He helped with the qualification for the Netherlands 2010 World Cup. This will be played in January. He fractured a bone in his right foot. That happened when he was celebrating his game against Manchester United.

Robin Van Persie is my hero because he has won so many awards. One of them was the Rotterdam Sportsman of the year. He won Arsenal season in 2008-09. His total goals with Feyenoord and Arsenal are 84 goals. Robin Van Persie is naturally Left-footed.
