Everyone has someone they look up to or want to be like. That person is called your hero. My hero is Rachel Joy Scott. She was a young girl that had died from the shooting at Columbine High School. She is a hero because she helped people and never stopped having faith in her religion. She was kind, smart, generous, considerate and helpful. Rachel is my hero because she made me want to be a nicer person, and also made me have stronger faith in my religion.
Rachel was shot in school. She was eating lunch on the grass with her friend Richard Castaldo when the shooters approached her. One of the shooters was Dylan Klebold. He had known her since middle school. The shooters had asked her do you believe in God, and she responded,"you know I do." They then said well go be with him and they shot her 4 times. Rachel had a strong faith in her religion. She knew she was going to get shot, but she was courageous. She had spoken the truth and was not ashamed of her beliefs. Since Rachel had acted in that way she inspired me greatly. I now know to speak your mind and don’t be ashamed of it. Rachel was also a very kind person to everyone. She didn’t care what color, nationality or religion you were. I now try to be nice to everyone because when you're nice to someone they will be nice to someone else then you can start a chain reaction.
Rachel was born August 5, 1981 and had died April 20, 1999. Unfortunately Rachel had only lived for seventeen years. She died so young. She had left behind her mother Beth Nimmo, her father Darrell Scott, her brother Craig Scott and her sister Bethanee Scott. She now lives in heaven and she is greatly missed by her family, friends and people who don’t even know her, but know how amazing she is.
Not only has Rachel changed my life, but she has changed so many other lives. When people hear the name Rachel Joy Scott they think of a wonderful child. She makes people want to be a better person. Instead of being mean and snobby they want to go up to people and help them with their problems like Rachel had done. Thanks to Rachel there are a lot of better people out there.
Rachel wasn’t just a person that was nice to everyone, she was special. When she was younger she drew her hand and inside wrote, “These hands belong to Rachel Joy Scott and will someday touch millions of hearts”, this is from the book Rachel’s Journals. Well she was right she did touch many hearts. She also drew a picture the day before the incident. She had drawn her eyes with 13 bloody tears falling from them and onto this one rose. Well the following day thirteen people had died during the shooting at Columbine. For her to know that is amazing. She was a very gifted girl. Knowing how special she was and how she died at a young age makes me feel so bad because she was such a great person and I hope to one day be exactly like her.
As you can see was very extraordinary and kind. She is someone that will not be forgotten by me or anyone else. If one day everyone could be like her and try to help others, the world would be a better place. Rachel helped make this world a better place and for that she will always be in our hearts.
