What do you define as a hero? Is it spider-man or one of the members of the Fantastic 4? Or is it a fireman or policeman down the street? People have many heroes, but to me, one of my greatest heroes would be Ray Charles. Ray did much during his lifetime and has contributed much to history. He will always be remembered as a great historical figure.

Ray Charles did much for society. He was very helpful in the civil rights movement. He helped end segregation in places like Georgia. Ray was very inspirational since he was blind and still managed to play the piano. He bought out great music through out his years, including “Georgia on My Mind,” which is now Georgia’s state anthem. He did many other things for which he is still remembered.

Ray was born down in Georgia. Throughout his life he moved around a lot and settled down in Los Angeles. He was very motivated in his life. He played the piano even though he was blind. He made music that millions of people enjoyed. Even through blindness, Ray was able to bring an impact to millions of people.

Throughout his life, Ray was very determined to succeed. He thought of life as an experience. Being blind was a challenge for him, but he made the best of it. He had many obstacles to face throughout his life, but he pushed through. In his years, Ray picked up some bad habits, like the use of heroin. Through strong will and determination Ray gave up his addiction to the needle and never touched another one again. Ray's story is very inspirational and was made into a movie called RAY.

Ray Charles was a great man. His story has inspired many to try harder to reach their goals. He has inspired me to succeed in all I put mind to. If anyone were to be a hero, Ray Charles would be one. Though he has passed, he will always be remembered for time to come.
