Christopher Reeve

by Leon from Miklavž

My hero is Christopher Reeve, an actor, director and activist. He was born on the 25th of September, 1952 in New York, USA.

Christopher Reeve died October 10, 2004. He was 52 years old.

He’s important to me because he never gave up, despite his illness. He was paralyzed but fought on with his illness and gave hope to other paralyzed people when he moved his finger. People saw that there is a possible cure for them. I also find it ironic that "Superman" couldn’t walk. I saw the terrible life that he had and realized that if he could do what he did from a wheelchair, then nothing’s impossible. The fact that he had a fabulous life, which in a moment took a 180 degree turn and he became paralyzed, didn’t crush him, but encouraged him to do more good things, is so inspiring. I believe that because of his efforts to overcome his disease and to help people with similar troubles, Christopher Reeve’s a hero not only to me, but also to many people around the world.
