Rihanna is a heroine, because she isn't afraid to show who she really is. Rihanna inspires people today by telling people you shouldn't care about what someone else thinks, just be yourself.

Rihanna took the world by storm as a young girl who had big dreams. But life wasn't always easy for her. Rihanna grew up in Barbados with her mom, dad, and her two younger brothers. When Rihanna was young she found out that her dad was an alcoholic. Rihanna was devastated when she found out. She could remember her parents always fighting. Finally, their fighting got so bad that Rihanna started getting terrible headaches. The pain was so bad that her parents took her to the doctor. Even though the test showed nothing physically wrong the headaches continued for years. It was not until her parents separated when she was a young teen that the headaches finally disappeared. At that point Rihanna realized that the headaches were coming from hiding her emotions. Her parents were always fighting, but she couldn't do anything. Rihanna explains "I wouldn't cry. I wouldn't get upset. It was all just up in here [her head]. I had to go through a lot of CAT scans. They even thought it was a tumor, because it was that intense. It's not great memories. But it helped to build me and make me stronger." When she was little Rihanna would dress in her brother's clothes. Rihanna didn't care if she was a tomboy, she loved who she was. As Rihanna grew up she acted as a second mother to her brothers. Rihanna says that she was too young to be given that responsibility, and there were many conflicts with her brothers. She said "We used to fight and when I say fight I don't mean arguments, I mean physically fight. I hit the older one in the face with a glass bottle. Mom was pretty upset." Even though life was hard in Barbados, Rihanna kept trying her hardest to make her dream come true.

Rihanna is a very talented singer. She has done many tours around the world. One of the places that she has gone to is Germany. One time she promoted the Miss Bisou clothing line for J.C. Penny. Rihanna has worked with many talented singers. Rihanna sang the song "Rehab" at the MTV video awards in 2008 with Justin Timberlake. Working with new artist is something Rihanna always looks forward to.

Rihanna gives back to her community by having her own charity. Rihanna has her own charity called the Believe Foundation. Rihanna founded it in 2006. The Believe Foundation is a charity that supports children in need around the world. Not only does Rihanna help children, but Rihanna helped a mother too. The mother was diagnosed with leukemia and needed help. Rihanna acted fast to find bone donors. Rihanna helped a mother by finding a bone donor. The mother was grateful that Rihanna took the time and money to do something like that for her. This shows how much Rihanna really cares.

Rihanna has many amazing songs. Rihanna's hit song "Umbrella" was voted best video of the year in 2007. In 2008, Rihanna performed with Jay-Z in concert together. In fact Jay-Z is the one who discovered Rihanna. Rihanna has performed with Jay-Z many times. Rihanna always looks forward to singing with Jay-Z.

Rihanna has many good qualities that make her a hero. One of Rihanna's qualities that have made her successful is perseverance. Rihanna has this quality, because she never quit following her dreams. Even though her childhood was tough Rihanna never gave up. Rihanna wouldn't stop singing even if it bothered her neighbors. She never lost hope of what she really wanted to do. I think that's a great quality for a hero. Another quality is she is a great singer and performer. Rihanna always likes to show how much energy she has when she sings and performs. You can see that in every one of her music videos. Rihanna always has a powerful voice when she sings. No matter what's going on she always brings her A-game when she performs. Finally, her third quality is she was a work ethic. She has high expectations for herself. She worked hard to achieve her goal. She wouldn't stop until she reached it. Rihanna was not going to be stopped no matter what. That's something that you should always look for in a hero.

I think a good lesson that I or any young person can learn from Rihanna is to be polite and kind to others and stay drug free. This is a good lesson, because being polite and kind to someone could cheer them up and you might even make a new friend. Also staying drug free helps you be a healthier person and live longer.
